I lead an on-going cognitive behavior group that started in
March 2008. I personally meet
with each man who is interested joining this group to determine
whether the group would be a good fit for them and to help ensure
the safety of the existing group members.
All of the men in this group are interested in improving the relationship
they have with themselves, and with their partners, family, friends,
and or work colleagues.
Most of the men have (or at one time had), a professional career.
Some participants have struggled with some type of addiction
(although this is not a 12 step group).
I use a mindfulness approach, combined with
psycho-education, and group psycho-dynamics.
I lead the group and monitor interactions to help the men
feel safe, help ensure that confidentiality is respected, and to
help keep the conversation focused.
Some of the issues that the group addresses
include:
-
Communication with
your partner, family, friends, boss or children.
-
Grief and loss (loss
of job, relationship, health).
-
Life and career
transitions (new opportunities).
-
Personal growth and
responsibility.
-
Veteran's support,
post deployment and re-entry.
-
A desire to make
sense of it all.
The
group meets on Monday evenings. It’s located near the Capital Campus
in Olympia.
Men
who are interested in joining the group must meet in person with
Bill to discuss whether the group would be a good fit.
There is no charge for this visit.
I will not bill your insurance company for
group therapy; however I can give you a superbill that you can
submit to your health plan.
Contact Bill for
more information.
